Privacy Policy

What we collect

WhereIsPhoto uses your account details, including your email address, to provide sign-in, search history, billing access, and support. When you submit a photo for a location search, we process the image, a normalized copy, the search result, and related usage records. We also process payment and subscription status, credits, and basic technical information needed to run and protect the service. Payment providers handle payment details; we do not need your full card number to provide the service.

How photo searches work

We send a normalized version of your photo to Google's Gemini service for an initial visual location estimate. An included image-source check may run automatically when the initial result needs more evidence, or when you choose to check sources. For that check, we submit the photo to SerpAPI for a Google Lens search. That service may make the submitted image available through a temporary public image URL to perform the search. We may fetch matching public pages and images to check whether they contain the same photo and an explicit camera location. External providers process data under their own terms and privacy practices.

An estimate or source match may be incomplete or wrong. Do not rely on it as proof of an exact location.

Storage and access

We keep a normalized photo and its search results so you can revisit your search history and reports. Production photos are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket; your photo and report endpoints require access to your account. We do not currently promise automatic deletion after a fixed period or offer a self-service account deletion control. To request deletion of your account, stored photos, or search history, email support@whereisthisphoto.app. We will handle requests manually, subject to records we need to retain for billing, security, or legal reasons.

Why we use and share data

We use this information to deliver searches and reports, maintain your account and credits, process payments, provide support, and protect the service. We share information with service providers only as needed for those functions, including hosting and storage, authentication and email, payment processing, visual analysis, and image-source search. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users. We do not sell your personal information.
